  1. The Sara, Bill, Loren, Terri, Gary “Dude Ranch” Wireless!!! Our home on the range

  2. Benefits to the Wireless cowboy • Improved Communication – Wireless enables access essentially anywhere it is supported. This encourages email usage which in turn promotes better communication among students, faculty and parents. • Economic – The upfront costs of going wireless are lower than other alternatives and ultimately there is less of a need for lb personnel and tech support. • Productivity – Utmost efficiency allows more on task time for students, and higher productivity for teachers, students, administration, and support. • Academics – Wireless setup allows you to cover more material in the classroom. It encourages better performance and improves communication among students and teachers. • Physical – The efficiency of space, better utilization of existing buildings and facilities and retaining the aesthetics of a campus are all appealing benefits of a wireless system.

  3. Applications of a Wireless Range • Allows access anywhere on campus • In classrooms if you have the laptop cart, kids each take their assigned notebook, fire it up and participate in class from their desks, possibly in modeling a web quest or research assignment. • Studies show an increase in communication • Pepperdine University is a wireless campus and it enables students to communicate virtually anywhere on campus, and allows you to remotely participate in forum assignments, we used Blackboard for one of my classes. • Ubiquitous internet access which will increase the use of email as a tool for communication

  4. Links to other range sites • GWEC Home Page • Cornell's Wireless Networks Laboratory • Exploiting and Protecting 802.11b Wireless Networks
