  2. What is Big Local? • 10 year programme • Community driven • Builds on local talents and aspirations • Creates sustainable lasting change in local areas • Better places to live now and in the future Programme that feels and acts local at all times

Who is running Big Local? • New organisation is being set up to deliver Big Local and manage the Big Local Trust • Consortium led by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) chosen by the Big Lottery Fund to do this • CDF and partners will deliver initial stages of Big Local CDF and partners

  4. How much money is available? • At least £1 million available to each area to fund activities to meet the agreed community plan • Local areas can provide a mixture of funding: grants, social investments, loans, microfinance and support • Loans mean money can come back to Big Local and be reused in the local area again How can local areas use it?

  5. What will Big Local look like in local areas? • Community driven • Support, challenge and encouragement for local people to take ownership of Big Local • Unique programme of activity in each area but sharing Big Local outcomes Outcome focused approach – not a one size fits all model

  6. How will Big Local work in each area? Local solutions to local problems – all parts of the community engaged • We will support each local area to run Big Local themselves so that it: • Is community driven • Responds to local needs • Builds on local strengths • Each local area will follow a staged process in order to do this

Getting People Involved Funding • A total of £30,000 for each local area • GPI Round 1 administered by Big Lottery Fund, Round 2 administered by CDF • GPI Round 2 will feed into initial stages of Big Local. • Areas can apply for round 2 once round 1 funding is spent and signed off by BIG • Big Local representatives will be allocated to local areas to support involving local people, community visioning and creating a local partnership • Round 2 will be a rolling programme with no closing date • Round 2 guidance notes and applications available from mid July

  8. What support can local areas get in this process? • Getting People involved funding • Big Local representatives • Big Local facilitators • Star People • Networking and shared learning • Menu of support • Fundraising More than just a funding programme

  9. What is CDF doing now? Working with the Big Lottery Fund and partners to: • establish the new organisation that will manage the Big Local Trust • run Getting People Involved Round 2 • work with the first 50 local areas to start Big Local CDF has a dedicated staff team working on this, led by Debbie Ladds and we look forward to working with people in the first 50 local areas, and others on this exciting opportunity. biglocal@cdf.org.ukwww.cdf.org.uk/biglocal
