  1. India Islam in India & southeast Asia Muslims expanded their influence from northwest India to the Indus valley. The government was centered in Delhi. This was known as the Delhi sultanate

  2. India Islam in India & southeast Asia The Delhi sultanate extended their power by military conquest. Muslims did not find much acceptance in India; Indians would not accept monotheism. they did find acceptance among some Buddhists.

  3. India Islam in India & se Asia Some lower caste Hindu found Islam appealing because of its egalitarian nature. The Delhi sultanate had a strong military, but failed to establish a strong administration. They were successful in introducing the Islamic culture to India.

  4. Southeast Asia Islam in India & se Asia here Islam spread mostly from commercial contacts & conversions rather than military conquest. The new faith did not gain widespread popularity among the Buddhist some areas of the mainland & some islands in the Indian ocean were receptive.
