  1. 7/8. RP/EE Unit Review

  2. Given the equation, determine if the solution is “Always true”, “Sometimes true”, or “Never true”.  Show your work and explain why.1.  x - 15 = 17 + x      2.  12x  = 5x      3.  1.5x (-8) = -12x

  3. Matthew wants to buy a new video game.  He goes to Best Buy and sees that they have the game on sale for $12.50 off the original price.   He is ready to purchase the game when Mary Beth informs Matthew that, next door at Game Stop, the same game is on sale for 35% off the original price.  For what original price will these discounts be equal, if ever?  Explain your reasoning.

  4. Matthew wants to buy a the new video game.  he goes to the Best buy and sees that they have the game on sale for $12.50 off the original price.   He is ready to purchase the game when Mary Beth informs Matthew that next door at Game Stop the same game is on sale for 35% off the original price.  For what original price will these discounts be equal, if ever?  Explain your reasoning. Y = x – 12.50 When x = $35.71, the discount Y = .65x will be the same. Or .35x = 12.50

  5. Does this graph represent a function?

  6. NO because it does not pass the vertical line test Does this graph represent a function?

  7. Create a real life “story” that could be represented by this equation: 12.5 + 10x = 155

  8. Systems of Equations The Collen family is having a cookout. They need a total of 20 burgers. The cost of beef burgers at the butcher counter is $2.50 and the cost of organic turkey burgers is $3.25. This can be represented by this system of equations. x + y = 20 2.5x + 3.25y = 57.5 Maddie insists we ordered the same number of each type. Is she correct?

  10. In January, after Betsy made a deposit she had a balance of $125. Shedeposited the same amount each month and at the end of May, after her deposit, she had $265 in her account. • How much money did she save each month?

  12. In January, after Betsy made a deposit she had a balance of $125. She deposited the same amount each month and at the end of May, after her deposit, she had $265 in her account. Write a function (equation), in slope intercept form, to represent the relationship between the money saved and the months.

  13. In January, after Betsy made a deposit she had a balance of $125. She deposited the same amount each month and at the end of May, after her deposit, she had $265 in her account. Write a function (equation), in slope intercept form, to represent the relationship between the money saved and the months. Let x = month; let y = total balance Y = 35x + 90

  16. Vocabulary” Define slope. Rise/run; change in y/change in x Define rate of change. How quickly one value changes (y) in relation to the other (x) Define “function” Set of two variable data where each x value is paired with only one y What is a test used to determine if a graph represents a function? The vertical line test

  17. Which of the following functions are linear? a) y = 2x - 9 b) -3x – 14 = 335 c) x2– y = 18 d) 2x + 3y = 203 • a & d • Which of the above is quadratic? • c • Which is exponential? • b
