  1. “The Veldt” - Ray Bradbury Consider: What technology do you use that your parents did not have when there were young? What’s good and what’s bad about this technology? Questions 1. Define: veldt, recede, paprika, emanate, agate, flue, neurotic, paranoia, spoor. 2. Reread the description of the nursery on the first page. Describe three things about the nursery which makes its images seem so real. 3. What piece of foreshadowing is used a few times in the story? (hint: it has to do with birds) 4. Another use of foreshadowing comes when George finds his wallet in the grass. What does this foreshadow? 5. What is the psychologist’s advice? What reasons does he give for this advice? 6. Near the end, the story read, “And suddenly they realized why those others screams sounded familiar.” Explain. 7. What message do you think Bradbury is trying to express: a) about technology? b) about people?
