Despite losing division title to toronto, he committed only 8 errors and 21 hrs. • First SS to have 8 20 hr seasons. Also set SS record by playing 95 games w/o an error • Quote after beating lou’s record “I’m truly humbled to have our names spoken in the same breath” • July 2001, ripken played in his last all-star game, winning MVP. At the end of the season he walked away from, the game for good. • In retirement he holds nearly every Oriole offensive batting record, most hits, doubles, hr, and rbi’s
