Overview of Library Services • Interlibrary Loans – COLOMBO • Click on Create Request (if necessary) • Library PIN required • Article Delivery (2 working days) • Via an online form, articles from our printed/microform collection will be scanned into PDF and delivered via e-mail • Login with Concordia NetName • CREPUQ card • Request at Circulation Desk • Graduate Study Carrels • Webster 4th floor • Request at Circulation Desk

Structure of Information • Variety of formats for literary scholarship: • Monographs (books) • Essays/chapters in edited books • Journal articles • Magazines • Newspapers • Dissertations/theses • Reference sources • Conference proceedings • Websites • Peer-reviewed journals vs. popular magazines • MLA Directory of Periodicals • Ulrichsweb

Types of Sources • Primary sources: • Original materials • literary works of authors and their diaries, correspondence, criticism etc. • material written as close to the event as possible • Secondary sources: • describe, analyze, interpret, or review primary sources • Tertiary sources: • provide overviews, summaries or explanations of topics by synthesizing information gathered usually from secondary sources • Ex: dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference sources

  11. To Find the Full Text • Use the feature • Search CLUES Perform a Journal Title search • Check other Montreal libraries Use your CREPUQ card • Request an Interlibrary Loan (COLOMBO) Online form Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery of books Allow 4 days for delivery of photocopies of articles

RefWorks is a Web-based tool that: • Facilitates organization of references • Is accessible from any Internet connection • Simplifies the process of preparing bibliographies • Access RefWorks through the Quick Links menu on the Library website • Help • Take a workshop • Use the Help on the page
