  1. Journey of the spirit, Lesson 15, The book of deeds Conversion of deeds

  2. 1.The book of deeds • Every small and big action of a person is written in a book, and he will see it by him self, and will be asked to account his self by him self. • فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ {7} • [Shakir 99:7] So. he who has done an atom's weight of good shall see itوَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ {8} • [Shakir 99:8] And he who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.وَكُلَّ إِنسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَآئِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا يَلْقَاهُ مَنشُورًا {13} • [Shakir 17:13] And We have made every man's actions to cling to his neck, and We will bring forth to him on the resurrection day a book which he will find wide open:اقْرَأْ كَتَابَكَ كَفَى بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا {14} • [Shakir 17:14] Read your book; your own self is sufficient as a reckoner against you this day.

  3. Even if we forget this book will not 2.Every single word hidden or revealed, the angels are writing in the book, one in the right (RAQEEB) and one in the left side (ATEED) of a person: • أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَاهُم بَلَى وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ {80} • [Shakir 43:80] Or do they think that We do not hear what they conceal and their secret discourses? Aye! and Our messengers with them write down.إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ {17} • [Shakir 50:17] When the two receivers receive, sitting on the right and on the left.مَا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ {18} • [Shakir 50:18] He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand.هَذَا كِتَابُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيْكُم بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ {29} • [Shakir 45:29] This is Our book that speaks against you with justice; surely We wrote what you did,

  4. The heavy book will be given in the hand 3. If the Good deeds are more than the bad deed, then the right book will be heavy, so it will be given in the right hand of a person, and the bad person will be given his book in the left hand, because his right book will be heavy. • فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ {7} • [Shakir 84:7] Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand,فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا {8} • [Shakir 84:8] He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning,وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا {9} • [Shakir 84:9] And he shall go back to his people joyful.وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاء ظَهْرِهِ {10} • [Shakir 84:10] And as to him who is given his book behind his back, (they will be ashamed of taking it from front or will put their hands behind refusing to take it, so they will be given from behind)فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا {11} • [Shakir 84:11] He shall call for perdition (affliction, grief, distress and destruction),وَيَصْلَى سَعِيرًا {12} • [Shakir 84:12] And enter into burning fire.

  5. The angels are writing every thing: • Even the intentions, if they for good deeds. • They do not write the sins immediately, and give an opportunity to repent soon. • Angels of the day and angels of the night, meet at the dawn and the sunset, a person should forward his repentance before these times daily, so that these angles surrender the books to the next shift clean. • Based on some narrations, there are special angels which descend to write special deeds such as the mentioning of Ahlul Bayt (AS), salaat, ablution, and other deeds which has more weight than the regular good deeds. • Based on some verses there are three types of books, books of each individual, books of each nation, and book of every nation. • These are not books like our books, but it is a recording device of that system, could be audio, video virtual books or devices.

  6. 2. Conversion of deeds • It is mentioned in some of the narrations that deeds are converted to bounties or punishment, for example they say that the SIRAAT or the bridge over the hell fire is what you build in this world by believing in the roots of religion, so the bridge is your belief, the stronger your belief will be the stronger the Siraat will be, and some narrations Siraat is the WELAYAT of Imam Ali (AS), and this bridge gets broader by the branches of religion, good deeds, such as maintaining the ties with relatives, and so on. WELAYAT of Imam Ali (AS) comes like a ghost or a beautiful man, which protects the true follower from every calamity and difficulty since the death to the Paradise, the same is said about the salaat. There are two types on interpretations: • The deeds convert by them self and take the form of the punishment or the reward, so they are same but in a different form.. • The deeds are exchanged by the punishment and the rewards, that means that the deeds and the reward or punishment are different.

  7. Examples from the Quraan: • فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [Shakir 36:54] So this day no soul shall be dealt with unjustly in the least; and you shall not be rewarded aught but that which you did.يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا الْيَوْمَ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ {7} • [Shakir 66:7] O you who disbelieve! do not urge excuses today; you shall be rewarded only according to what you did.ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ • [Shakir 10:52] Then it shall be said to those who were unjust: Taste abiding chastisement; you are not requited except for what you earned.وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون {48} • [Shakir 39:48] And the evil (consequences) of what they wrought shall become plain to them, and the very thing they mocked at shall beset them. (BADAA it will completely appear in front of them) , HAAQ means surrounded by their mocks.

  8. The unlawful wealth will become a serpent • The deed weight of an atom will be seen (chapter of ZALZALA) • يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِن سُوَءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللّهُ نَفْسَهُ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفُ بِالْعِبَادِ {30} • [Shakir 3:30] On the day that every soul shall find present what it has done of good and what it has done of evil, it shall wish that between it and that (evil) there were a long duration of time; and Allah makes you to be cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and Allah is Compassionate to the servants.وَلاَ يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْ سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُواْ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلِلّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاللّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ {180} • [Shakir 3:180] And let not those deem, who are niggardly in giving away that which Allah has granted them out of His grace, that it is good for them; nay, it is worse for them; they shall have that whereof they were niggardly made to cleave to their necks on the resurrection day; and Allah's is the heritage of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is aware of what you do.

  9. Wealth will become an Iron • يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّ كَثِيراً مِّنَ الأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ {34} • [Shakir 9:34] O you who believe! most surely many of the doctors of law and the monks eat away the property of men falsely, and turn (them) from Allah's way; and (as for) those who hoard up gold and silver and do not spend it in Allah's way, announce to them a painful chastisement,يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ هَـذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ {[Shakir 9:35] On the day when it shall be heated in the fire of hell, then their foreheads and their sides and their backs shall be branded with it; this is what you hoarded up for yourselves, therefore taste what you hoarded.

  10. Narrations of Ahlul Bayt (AS) • Who ever does not pay his financial obligations, his miser will become a serpent of fire and will surround his neck. • إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ الْيَتَامَى ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا {10} • [Shakir 4:10] (As for) those who swallow the property of the orphans unjustly, surely they only swallow fire into their bellies and they shall enter burning fire. • It is narrated in several narrations from Infallibles (AS) that if a believer is taken into the grave, his (ghostly) body is surrounded by 6 figures, which are very beautiful in their looks, has nice fragrance, and are pure in their image, they surround him to protect him from every calamity until the day of judgment, when he asks them who are you, each body says: I am Salaat, (right) .. (left) Zakaat,.. (front) Fasting,.. (back) Pilgrimage,.. (legs) kindness to your brothers, ..and the most beautiful one says I am the WELAYAT to Ahlul Bayt (AS) of Mohammad (S).
