Objective: Offertousersspatialvisualization of data fromagriculturalCensus, in a GIS. • Thefollowingelementswereintegrated: • NationalGeo-StatisticalFrame (MGN). • At differentlevels of disaggregation. Control Areas (290 000, aprox.) Municipalities (2457) States (32) Basic Geo-Statistical Areas

  4. Variables and agriculturalproducts • 9 selected variables fromthecensus. • Classification of agriculturalproducts in 70 differentcategories (NAICS 2007 classes).

  5. Productionunitsincluded in SCIGA • Principle of confidentiality. • AllProductionUnitsfrom 2007 AgriculturalCensus • Accordingtoitsmainactivityorproduct. • All control areaswithoneortwoProductionUnitsweredeleted.

  6. Data Integrationtothe Digital Map of Mexico Data-Base Geographicalinformationlayers Información adicional Municipios AGEB Áreas de control Zonas urbanas

  7. Thesystemallowsmakingtwotypes of consultations: Thematicmaps, which are pre-elaboratedmaps of eachone of the 70 SCIAN cathegoriescontained in theSCIGA. Detailedconsultations, fromtheselectiononthreeelements: economicactivity, personnelemployed (stratified in sixgroups) and geographicalarea.

  8. Thematicmaps Itallowsgenerating 4 types of maps, nationwide, in whicheach “control area” iscoloredaccordingwithhowmuch a specificagriculturalproductispresent in it. • Thetypes of thematicmapsthat can beproduced are: • Accordingtothepercentage of productionunitsdedicatedtotheselectedproduct (SCIAN cathegory). • Control areasaccordingtothepercentage of agriculturalareadedicatedtotheselectedproduct. • Control areasaccordingtothepercentage of social propertyagriculturalareadedicatedtotheproduct. • Control areasaccordingtothepercentage of non-social propertyagriculturalareadedicatedtotheproduct.

  9. Thematicmap, example: Exploitation of cattleformilkproduction per control area, accordingtothepercentage of productionunitsdedicatedtotheselectedactivity.

  19. SCIGAwasdevelopedusingthe Digital Map of Mexico as theplatform in its Internet version, whichis a geographicalinformationsystem (SIG) thatwasdevelopedbyINEGI. It ‘s availabletousersonINEGI´s web-page, freely.
