  8. Pilot Projects • 75 Iridium buoys active in 2010 (out of ~200) • Still mostly European • JouBeh (Canada), CLS and Meteo France operationally processing iridium buoys • 9 Argos-3 Buoys active (out of 26 deployed)

  10. Information Exchange • New web site • Publications • DBCP Annual Report 2009 (nearly completed) • DBCP 25 Meeting and Workshop (nearly completed) • New document on QC for GTS centres, including Iridium processing centres (Document 37)

  11. Deployment opportunities • Updates via the monthly email to the DBCP community. • New-ish opportunities: • The DART Tsunami buoy deployment and maintenance cruises will provide an ongoing opportunity in the Pacific and Central Atlantic oceans. Cruise planning is completed each year by NDBC.

GTS Delays (1) Iridium Buoys in the Indian Ocean have delays below 60 mins and lower than adjacent Argos buoys (2) Argos-3 buoys have not yet demonstrated improvements in delays in the Pacific Ocean Shows how (1) Iridium improves delays in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and (2) how Argos-3 may not improve delays for now.
