  5. Example 1 Write the function f(x) = (x – 1)(x + 4)(x – 3) as a polynomial function in standard form. (x – 1)(x + 4)(x – 3) = (x – 1) [(x + 4)(x – 3)] = (x – 1) (x2 + x – 12) = x(x2+ x – 12) – 1(x2 + x – 12) = x3 + x2 – 12x – x2 – x + 12 = x3 – 13x + 12 f(x) = x3 – 13x + 12 • Objective: Multiply and factor polynomials
