  3. Why Else is it important….. • It will cause you to have better social skills • More self respect • More self respect for others • Have better control over your emotions

The 5 Areas of Self Esteem • Physical : How you feel about your body and health. • Emotional: How you feel about your feelings and how you express them. • Social : How you feel about your ability to get along with others. • Intellectual: How you feel about your ability to think and solve problems. • Spiritual: How you feel about your religious beliefs or your place in the “BIG Picture: .

  5. How Can We improve Self Esteem in Children ? • Encourage decision making • Praise positive behaviors • Follow the child lead • Accept that its normal to have disappointments

  6. How Else…..? • Separate the child from the failure • Give the child responsibilities…...........AND • Show affection : )
