How Ways of improving the self-esteem of children • Respond to baby’s emotional needs • Help your child interact with others • Help them solve their own problems • Help them become self-motivated • Teach them independence • Help your child succeed • Encourage them to try again • Teach them to be original • Praise them

  4. The areas of self-esteem Physical self-concept • How you feel about your body and health.

  5. Intellectual • How you feel about your ability to think and to solve problems. Thinking

  6. Social • How you feel about your ability to get along with others.

  7. Spiritual • How you feel about your religious beliefs or your place in the big picture.

  8. Emotional • How you feel about your feelings and how you express them.

Highs & Lows • High Self-Esteem helps a child: • Able to act independently • Take pride in accomplishments • Tolerate frustration • Attempt new tasks • Low Self-Esteem leads to: • Avoid trying new things • Feel unloved or unwanted • Blame others for his own shortcomings • Put down his own talents

  10. Summary • It’s a good thing to boost a child’s confidence. • But don’t over do it. • Encourage your child. • Praise your child. • Bond with your child.
