  3. What happened last time? Chapter - Go Means Go • Junior spoke with his parents about going to Reardan. Why did he want to do this? What was there response? • What do we know about Reardan?

  4. What happened last time? • Chapter – Rowdy Sings the Blues • Junior tells Rowdy his plans to go. • What was Rowdy’s reaction? • Why do you think he reacted this way? • How would you react in a similar situation? • How does Rowdy disguise his pain?

  5. Theme/Topics • Theme is The Message • What are the possible themes or topics up to this point in the story? • What evidence can you find that supports your choices?

  6. Theme of poverty… • The topic of poverty is very clear in the first portion of this novel. How can we use this topic to create a theme? • Remember, theme should be a statement that communicates a message to the reader. • Ex. The poverty faced by the people of the rez is a never ending cycle.
