Schedule Changes continued ELECTIVE OR NON PRE-AP / AP Course Changes • Secure GREEN ADD/DROP FORM from Counselor • May drop and add a new class up to the end of the third week of each semester • Juniors and Seniors ONLY - may drop a course without penaltyafter the third week and before the end of the 1st 6- weeks: Juniors may add Office Aide Seniors may add late arrival, early dismissal, or Teacher’s Aide

  3. Schedule changes continued Adding or dropping a Pre-AP or AP level courses: Refer to the Pre-AP and AP Expectations of Enrollment Form that you received or will receive in class. Secure Permission to Withdraw from your teacher.

  4. Important !!!!!! Dropping a course after the 1st six weeks results in a failing grade for the semester. The failing grade will show on your transcript!!!!!!

  5. Important If you are a UIL participant, you must be passing if dropping a course after the third week or you will lose eligibility the next six weeks.

  6. GPA EXEMPT • Credit is awarded, but courses must not be required by grad plan Does not affect GPA. Use if interested in taking an upper level course, but fear a poor or failing grade Use on elective courses if a high grade could possibly lower your GPA. Example: 12.83 GPA … a grade of 98- 100 (12.0) would lower your GPA Declare first 3 weeks of each semester

  7. Counselor Information UNABLE TO HONOR REQUEST FOR TEACHER CHANGES OR REQUEST FOR SPECIFIC TEACHERS. UNABLE TO HONOR REQUEST TO SWITCH CLASSES JUST TO BE WITH FRIENDS.

  8. Counselor FYI Words of wisdom… • Each semester stands alone. • Must pass each semester of required courses. • Semester grades are not averaged together to get a final end of year grade. POINT TO PONDER: If you are failing the class because you don’t like the class or the homework… what are the chances that you are going to like it the second time? DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!

Counselor FYI • Senior Group Guidance – September 15th Individual Guidance will follow • Junior Group Guidance – September 13th All grades: College and Career Night – Thursday, September 22nd @ 7:00 PM UTA Seniors…If you have not already done so …begin gathering college applications, SAT/ACT information, recommendations, check transcripts, NCAA Clearinghouse, etc. Applying to Texas public universities…use the Common Application: applytexas.org

Counselor FYI October TAKS Testing Students to be tested: 1) Any senior who failed the EXIT LEVEL spring TAKS and failed to take or pass the summer administration 2) Any senior student new to Texas public schools 3) Any junior who plans to graduate at the end of spring or next summer Listen to announcements! Contact your counselor if you have questions.
