SYNTHESISGuidelines for Writing • Consider the purpose of writing • Select and carefully read your sources • Take notes on your reading • Formulate a thesis (for your essay) • Decide how to use your source material • Develop an organizational plan • Use parenthetical documentation throughout the essay to verify your concepts about the tale and its meaning

Synthesis Assignment • Read the two sources required for this project: the Wikipedia article and either the DNB or DLB article. • Present again the life of ________but this time employ two sources as the bases for your summary instead of one. • Use parenthetical documentation throughout to specify which source you are using to substantiate certain aspects of ________’s life. • Make a Works Cited page on which you present your two sources in MLA format.

  5. Synthesis Assignment (continued) • Follow the same rules that we used for the summary (Essay 1) generally. • In your conclusion decide whether or not the Wikipedia is as reliable as the DNB or DLB regarding biographical information, and cite specific examples that verify your judgment.
