STAR TOF MRPC

This project focuses on the manufacture, quality assurance, and testing of MRPC modules for the Chinese STAR-TOF Collaboration. The production readiness and schedule for module production in China have been established, with two production sites and dedicated testing facilities. The project aims to meet the installation schedule for the STAR-TOF project.

Chinese STAR-TOF Group Responsibility Manufacture of all MRPC Modules in China ~ 4000 modules including spare ones Quality Assurance and Module Testing in China - HV, Current and Noise Testing for each module - Cosmic Ray Testing for Each Module ADC, Efficiency and Timing Testing for ~20% - Early batches will be fully tested! TOF Tray will be assembled at UT Austin: - Post-assembly testing is planned by STAR - Pre-assembly testing for early shipment All Electric Connectors will be supplied by US STAR Group !

MRPC Testing in China Cosmic Ray Testing: Gas – Freon 95%, Iso-Butane 5% HV – 14000 V (7000V) 0) Overall Dimensional Tolerance 1) Leakage Current < 2 nA 2) Noise Rate < 50 Hz/Channel at 50 mV Threshold 3) Streamer Rate < 20% in ADC Spectrum 4) Effective Efficiency > 90% 5) Timing Resolution ~< 100+-20 ps

  9. Production Readiness in China Two Production Sites in China: Tsinghua University (70%) University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) (30%) Each Site with QA and Testing Facilities. Web-based Module Data-Base(USTC) Accessible at the Assembly Site.
