Tour of the GO Center What to do there? • Show your pass • Sign in • Get blue file folder • Follow “TO DO list for Seniors” • Use all resources available • Ask for transcripts, GPA, & rank • Fax, call, text, email, search, explore, find, copy, & print • Register for SAT/ACT • ASVAB/WORKEYS • Study for SAT/ACT ASVAB/WORKEYS • Contact colleges, tech. schools, career people, military, etc. • Meet with recruiters/admissions people • Turn in Acceptance Letters & Scholarships received

  8. Tips for EVErYONE • Work hard in school (GPA) • Be involved in activities at HHS • Have a job or be involved in a group outside of school • Do community service (HHH, school group, church, family, 4H, etc.)

  9. TIPS for everyone (cont’d) • Think about why a school, job, military would accept/hire you • Look at some resumes online for ideas • Be involved in making plans for yourself after high school • Accept where you are & go from there!

University) SAT ACT • Registration Deadlines & Test Dates on the GREEN sheets & GO Center website • Math, Critical Reading, & Writing • Most schools in the South US take this test (many elsewhere) • www.collegeboard.org • Registration Deadlines & Test Dates on the PURPLE sheets & GO Center website • English, reading, math, science, & writing • Many schools in the northtake only this test & NOT SAT (Most in South US take this test) • www.act.org

SAT vs. ACT (Cont’d) SAT ACT • Scores received online in 14 days • NEED TO TAKE by Dec. for BIG schools (A&M and UT) • Many scholarship require (deciding factor) • Costs: $52.50 or Fee Waiver (paid online with credit card, debit, or Paypal) • Scores received online 2 weeks after test date • NEED TO TAKE by Dec. for BIG schools (A&M and UT) • Many Scholarships require (deciding factor) • Cost: $54.50 or Fee Waiver (paid online with credit card, debit, or Paypal)
