  1. Graphing Functions We are learning to…model functions as tables, graphs and equations (rules) Friday, January 3, 2020

  2. Silent Function Game #1 Rule: __________________________

  3. Demonstrate what the function below looks like when graphed on a coordinate plane. Function: 2x + 1 = y • Do you see a trend in the values that have been graphed on the coordinate plane? Describe any trends you see. • Would it be practical to graph EVERY input and output on the coordinate plane? • How could we demonstrate the trend of the data? How could we show every input and output without actually putting a point on the graph? 0 3 4 2 1 2(1)+1 2(0)+1 2(2)+1 2(3)+1 2(4)+1 2+1 0+1 4+1 6+1 8+1 5 3 9 7 1 (4, 9) (1, 3) (3, 7) (2, 5) (0, 1)

  4. Graphing Functions on Coordinate Plane • Pick out 5 inputs…make sure to pick smart x values that will fit on your coordinate plane. • Using the equation (rule) substitute the input for x and solve for y (the output). • Create an Ordered Pair with your x and y values and then plot the ordered pair on the coordinate plane. • Draw a line through the points you graphed on the coordinate plane to demonstrate all points that represent the function.
