  2. Goal? • Offering affordable, high-quality education in rural areas • Well-educated students on par with students from good urban schools • Actively promoting education of female children • To establish one IshaVidhyaschool in each of the 32 districts in Tamil Nadu by 2017

Key statistics: • Total number of schools - 8 • Total number of students – 5200 • Total number of girls – 46% • Total number of teachers – (227 – teachers and 191 –non staff) • Average income of parents – Rs. 5000/Month • 58% of students on Scholarship • (some are fully supported, some pay for transport & uniforms, some a small amount for food)

History? • First IshaVidhya School opened its doors on June 19, 2006 in SandegoundenPalayam (SGP), Coimbatore. • In its first year, the school enrolled 263 students from 26 nearby villages • Three additional schools in villages near Erode, Nagercoil and Tuticorin were opened in the next academic year. • Founded by SadhguruJaggiVasudev from Isha Foundation. It is one of their social Impact project under IshaVidhya. http://blog.ishafoundation.org/ • They started facilities like library, science and computer labs and sports rooms In schools.

  7. Overview of IshaVidhya • Ishavidhya provides Extensive library of print, audio, video & computer based learning content. Ratio of computer to student is 5:1 • Over 50% of school hours spent on alternative learning methods • The student teacher ratio is quite low at 19.4:1, since special attention is given to slow learners. • Transportation Van facilities available for students to travel. • Highly subsidized nutritious noon-meals are provided 33Govt. schools have been takenup under the new initiative called government school adoption project.

  8. Asha for Isha? • Asha started its support from the year 2007 and has raised $73,620 till now. • Asha provides scholarship for 80 students. News about IshaVidhya? • http://ishavidhya.org/news/isha-vidhya-newsletters.html • Microsoft matches our donations to IshaVidhya100% and was able to raise $14,273 through 137 donations by direct donations and corporate employee gift cards. • Cisco partners to provide Learning Material with a volunteer of 88 employees. • Events such as Sevathon 2014, Hyderabad marathon, Youth Spark Bonus Day and Hyderabad Rotary Walk. • Piloted two other initiatives such as Bridge Course and teachers training programs. • Total fund utilization – Last academic year alone - $21,09,984 from all donars. (break-up given in financial report)

Why do we need donations ? • Operational costs for last year alone was Rs.67,754,358 • Expenses incurred on Government School Adoption Project Rs. 53,56,362 • Mid day noon meals for 5200 students • Current Funding Requirements for 2014-2015 years is projected to be 29,83,575. ( Includes infrastructure, Scholarships and government school adoption project for 40 schools)
