  11. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Community Development Grant

  12. Ohio Department of Natural Resources PURPOSE • Provides opportunities to financially support community projects. Often to develop the infrastructure for the collection and processing of recyclable materials.  • In addition, grant funds are available to coordinate litter cleanup activities involving special projects, or event-oriented or a traditional litter collection programs. This year Keep America Beautiful certification funding was added an optional activity.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources WHO CAN APPLY • applicants eligible to apply for Community Development Grant funding must be an agency of the state, as established in ORC Sections 343, 1502, and all applicable section of the ORC. An agency of the state may be a municipal corporation, county, township, state college or university, solid waste management district or authority, park district created under Section 511.18 and 1545.04 of the ORC, health districts as defined by 3709.01 of the ORC, soil & water conservation district or Keep Ohio Beautiful affiliates.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources GENERAL COMMENTS • Application submission deadline is February 3, 2012. • Effective date of the grant agreement will be July 1. • Funds cannot be expended prior to the effective date. • The operating period for the grant is 12 months. • Grantees will receive an 50% advance grant payment. • Match must be equal to fifty percent (50%) of the requested grant funds.

  17. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Litter Cleanup Grant

  18. Ohio Department of Natural Resources PURPOSE • These grants were developed to assist communities in reducing litter through community based litter cleanup activities and education/awareness efforts. • Can be used for the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment, signage, disposal and cleanup fees, litter prevention education and awareness promotional materials, and KAB annual fees.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources WHO CAN APPLY applicants eligible to apply for Litter Cleanup Grant funding must be an Ohio county, municipal corporation, township, village, solid waste management district or authority, soil & water conservation district, Keep Ohio Beautifulaffiliate, any agency of the state as defined in Chapter 119 of the Ohio Revised Code, board of education, joint vocational school district and non-profit organization.

  20. Ohio Department of Natural Resources GENERAL COMMENTS Application submission deadline is November 18, 2011. Grant awards may be in an amount up to $2,000. No cash match is required, but local financial or in-kind contributions will help to demonstrate a sense of commitment; and offset the overall cost of the project. Maximum grant period is 3 months, March 1 – May 31 Grantees will receive an 100% advance grant payment.

  22. Ohio Department of Natural Resources PURPOSE • This funding provides opportunities to financially support both community and private sector projects, specifically to develop the infrastructure for the collection and processing of materials, and strengthening of markets for end products.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources WHO CAN APPLY • applicants eligible to apply for Market Development Grant funding must be an agency of the state, as established in ORC Sections 343, 1502, and all applicable section of the ORC. An agency of the state may be a municipal corporation, county, township, state college/university, solid waste management district or authority. • An agency of the state, as previously outlined, must apply on behalf of Ohio businesses or non-profit organizations.

  27. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Scrap Tire Grant

Ohio Department of Natural Resources PURPOSE The Scrap Tire Grant program provides financial assistance for the conversion of manufacturing operations to accept scrap tire material as feedstock, expand tire processing, the use of scrap tire material in civil engineering projects, tire amnesty collection activities or technology development efforts.

An agency of the state may be a municipal corporation, county, township, state college/university, solid waste management district or authority, board of education/joint vocational school district, and park districts created under Section 511.18 and 1545.04 of the ORC. • An agency of the state, as previously outlined, must apply on behalf of Ohio businesses or non-profit organizations.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources PROJECT CATEGORIES • Civil Engineering projects - 10,000 - 15,000 PTEs - maximum of $150,000 5,000 - 10,000 PTEs - maximum of $100,000 less than 5,000 PTEs - maximum of $50,000 • Manufacturing or Processing projects - more than 1,000,000 scrap tires annually - $350,000 500,000 - 1,000,000 scrap tires annually - $250,000 less than 500,000 scrap tires annually - $150,000 • Research and Development projects - $75,000

No match is required for Tire Amnesty projects.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources APPLICATION CHECKLIST • Mail one complete set of all application forms to ODNR – DRLP • Email one complete set of all application forms in Word format to DRLP@dnr.state.oh.us • Application Cover Sheet with original authorized signature. • Executive Summary - limit to one, double-sided page in narrative form. • Project Details Format - provide comprehensive responses to all applicable questions in the format outlined, limit to three, double-sided pages.

  35. APPLICATION CHECKLIST • The cooperating enterprise’s most recent Dunn & Bradstreet Business Information Report (www.dnb.com) for the existing business; or An Income Statement reflecting the cooperating enterprise’s financial status for a start-up company. • An original letter from an accredited lending institution or agency, verifying an established line of credit to satisfy the match requirements and those monies are reserved within the line of credit to account for the match amount. • A General Fund Five Year Forecast for an Ohio school district applicant or the most recent Audited Financial Statement for a college and university applicant. A current departmental budget report for agencies of the state.
