  1. GEOMETRY EOC Quadrilateral Project

  2. Parallelogram • Opposite angles are equal. • Consecutive angles are supplementary. • Opposite sides are congruent. • Any side can be considered a base. • The altitude is the perpendicular distance from the base to the opposite side. • The diagonals bisect.

  3. Angles and Sides of a Parallelogram

  4. Real Life Parallelograms

  5. Properties of a Rectangle Rectangles are types of parallelograms. Opposite sides are parallel and congruent. The diagonals bisect. The diagonals’ central angles are congruent. The diagonals are congruent. All vertices are right angles.

  6. Angles and Sides of a Rectangle

  7. Real Life Rectangle

  8. Properties of a Rhombus • All sides are the same length. • Sides across from each other are parellel. • No angles are 90 degrees • Any two angles positioned next to each other are 90 degrees when added.

  9. Angles and Sides of a Rhombus

  10. Real Life Rhombus

  11. Properties of a square • A square has four equal sides • A square has four 90 degree angles • The diagonals are perpendicular • Opposite sides are parallel and equal • The diagonals are equal

  12. Angles and Relationships of a Square

  13. Squares in Everyday Life

  14. Properties of a Trapezoid • A trapezoid has 1 pair of parellel sides • Adjacent angles are supplementary • Diagonals are congruent • A trapezoid can be divided into four triangles

  15. Angles and Sides of a trapezoid

  16. Real Life Trapezoid

  17. Properties of an Isosceles Trapezoid • The bases (top & bottom) of an isosceles trapezoid are parallel. • Opposite sides of an isosceles trapezoid are the same length (congruent) • The angles on either side of the bases are the same size/measure(congruent) • The diagonals are congruent • Adjacent angles (next to each other) along the sides are supplementary. That means their measures adds up to 180 degrees.

  18. Angles and Sides of an Isosceles Trapezoid

  19. Real Life Isosceles Trapezoid

  20. Hierarchy Chart Quadrillateral Trapezoid Parallelogram Square Rectangle

  21. Matrix of Special Quadrilateral Properties
