Scheduling Pitfalls for Counselors Scheduling Pitfalls [Netobia Taylor - GISD] Session Summary • This course will review current year scheduling and how it affects other modules in Skyward such as posted grades and report cards, teacher gradebooks, and transcripts. • Find out what NOT to do and see proper ways to change schedules.

  4. Class Structure in Skyward Course: A course of study. (i.e. Government) Section: A group of students that meets at the same time to study that course. Meet Pattern: Who is going to teach? Important Incorrect Student Effective Dates Can cause: • Inaccurateor blank grades on the report cards • Make the grades disappear in the gradebook • Incorrectgrades and/or credits on transcripts • Cause teachers not to have access to students in the gradebook • Duplicateorincorrect415 records • Blank Grade and/ or Failure Reports to be inaccurate Scheduling Pitfalls [Netobia Taylor - GISD]

Skyward Update Programming Request (PR) 1707945 “The Change Section button will no longer move grades to the new section, but will rather leave grades attached to the section in which they were earned. This PR will be included in Addendum6, which will be posted on Tuesday July 10th. ” • Programming Request (PR) 1602678 • The 2 new options to the gradebook • Show NEW button for term-adjusted students who are not enrolled in the first term of the class. • Allow teachers to transfer in grades from any of the new students’ classes (otherwise, only dropped classes will be available).   21. EXAMPLE A student was originally scheduled to take World Hist 200WH Section 001 but needs to change to Section 003 mid year.   26. Schedule Change (Course to Course) When changing a student’s schedule to a totally different course. Replace the previous course (be mindful of the effective date) with the new course and input the appropriate effective date. Scheduling Pitfalls [Netobia Taylor - GISD]

  27. EXAMPLE A student is currently (for 1 day) in Government GOV100 Section 02 for the second semester but will need to be scheduled in Psychology PSY100 Section 03 for the remainder of the second semester. Scheduling Pitfalls [Netobia Taylor - GISD]
