  10. Perceived Benefits of Wireless Online Purchases • “Convenience, doing it when you think about it, not only when you remember to do it.” • “You could ‘shop’ while waiting (doctors office, traffic, etc.).” • “Allow people more flexibility in purchasing items whenever they think of them, instead of being limited to only making online purchases when at a computer.” • “If I have an immediate need such as reservations for hotel or plane, or purchasing stocks.” • “It would make more efficient use of my time, and let me do things as I think of them, rather than having to wait until I get home to my computer. I would use far fewer post-its.” Simplicity, convenience and time-savings are the most frequently mentioned benefits of online purchases via wireless devices.

  11. Wireless Online Purchase Concerns • “Security of credit card data and passwords. Even if a wireless network is supposed to be secure against ‘eavesdropping’ a mobile phone or PDA is a lot easier to lose (or steal) than a desktop computer, making it easier for someone else to get at your personal information.” • “Security is paramount since cellular signals can be intercepted and possibly decoded with the proper equipment. Another concern is the ability to peruse selections and options before purchasing. With a PC, the video monitor can display pictures and large descriptions of the items or service.” • “Mobile phones can be detected over scanners, therefore I would never give critical information over my cell phone.” • “Loss of connection which would interfere with the purchase.” The most frequently mentioned concerns of wireless online purchases are security, reliability, and information availability.
