Open Innovation Platform • HEIF 5 funded 4 year programme to support the development of collaborative relationships with business and commercial partners leading to a long term, sustainable growth in research income from these sources • A total of £675,000 is available each academic year up to 31st July 2015 • The platform opened to applications by research staff on the 1st of October 2011 www.exeter.ac.uk/research/rkt/openinnovation/

Open Innovation Platform • 4 different schemes • Link fund • Up to £1,000 available to support the development of new links and projects with industrial partners • Business Partnership Fund • Up to £10,000 per annum, available to support feasibility studies, co-funding studentships, and similar joint undertakings with industry • Proof of Concept Fund • Up to £15,000 available to advance commercialisation of new or existing intellectual property • Strategic Fund • Up to £100,000, available to support the development of strategic partnerships

Assessment Criteria • Named commercial partner (not mandatory for Proof of Concept) • Level of match funding • Potential for follow on commercial research funding • Sustainability of relationship with partner • Breath of relationship (potential for wider College/University engagement) • Earned income potential • Appeal to wider market • Submission dates • No submission dates for Link fund – decision within 1 week • 2011/12 submission dates for the other funds • 30th Nov, 31st Jan, 29th Feb, 31st March www.exeter.ac.uk/research/rkt/openinnovation/
