  1. The Hunger and Thirst Games Matthew 5:6

  2. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6

  3. Where will your hunger lead you?

  4. Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

  5. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.

  6. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

  7. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!

  8. I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.

  9. You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land
where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

  10. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalms 42:1,2

  11. In this hour of all-but-universal darkness one cheering gleam appears: Within the fold of conservative Christianity there are to be found increasing numbers of persons whose religious lives are marked by a growing hunger after God Himself. They are eager for spiritual realities... They are athirst for God, and they will not be satisfied until they have drunk deep at the Fountain of Living Water - A.W. Tozer
