PD Place • PD Place is NSD’s Staff Development System, used to offer professional development opportunities to NSD staff • This training is for instructors and those who assist instructors and will cover • Procedures and requirements for clock hour-approved courses • The basics of setting up a course in PD Place • Procedures to release clock hours after the course is complete

PD Place • There are three user account levels in PD Place • GeneralUser – May update their own profile, register for classes, view past and future registration information, print clock hour forms for completed classes • Instructor – Has the same privileges as a general user, and may also create and edit their own classes, register users and print sign-in sheets. Instructor-created courses must be reviewed and enabled by a Supervisor • Supervisor - In addition to the instructor privileges, may enable and edit classes, register/unregister users, add and edit users, verify attendance and release clock hours

PD Place The PD Place Process, step-by-step: • STEP 1 (Instructor): Plan your class and agenda • STEP 2 (Instructor): Enter the class in PD Place • STEP 3 (Supervisor): Reviews agenda and enables class • STEP 4 (Instructor): Prints sign-in sheets, obtains attendees’ signatures, sends to HR when class is complete • STEP 5 (HR): Verifies attendance in PD Place and releases clock hours • STEP 6 (Attendees): Completes evaluation and prints clock hour form

PD Place Agenda requirements for clock hour offerings: • Requirements for providing clock hours (per WAC 181-85) • Agenda must be submitted and approved 2 weeks prior to class date • Must be a min. of 3 hours of professional development activities • May not include “business” activities (i.e. routine staff meetings, operational policies, administrative practices) or lunch periods (unless engaged in prof. development activity during lunch) • Agendas must include: • Course objectives • Topics to be covered • Timelines, including meals and breaks

  7. PD Place System supervisors capable of enabling courses are listed below.   8. PD Place Courses will be enabled by the appropriate supervisor within 48 hours of receiving the required information. Requirements for a class to be enabled: • An agenda that meets all requirements • Stated course objectives • Topics to be covered • Timelines, including meals and breaks • Class entered in PD Place with all required information, and including • Class size (minimum and maximum) • Desired clock hours matches agenda

PD Place Additional Instructor responsibilities: • Sign-in sheets must be printed from PD Place – no other sign-in sheets will be accepted • Sign-in sheets for multi-session classes should be collected and sent to HR together after all sessions are complete • Instructors should make every effort to obtain signatures of all attendees, and communicate the following: • Clock hours for multi-session classes will be based on sessions attended • Clock hours can only be awarded to those attendees who sign the attendance sheets

PD Place Recap of Timeline for PD Place class set-up through completion: • Instructor creates an agenda • Instructor enters class in PD Place (you will learn how in this webinar) • Supervisor reviews agenda and enables course in PD Place • Attendees register (Instructors should also register if they wish to receive clock hours) • Instructor prints sign-insheets from PD Place forattendee’s signatures • Instructorsubmits completed sign-in sheets to HR following the event or after the last session of a series • HR verifies attendance and releases clock hours • Attendee completes evaluation and prints clock hour form
