  2. What is it? • The open spaces between TV channels • Can be used for lots of wireless innovations • White space between the color spectrums in the TV • -“White Spaces are the blank pages on which we write our broadband future” (Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein)

  3. Where are they located? The Electromagnetic Spectrum

  4. Through the years In the 1940’s the entire spectrum was used to bring people channels 2-14 Now most TV is delivered through cable or satellite

  5. FCC and their decision Voted 5-0 November 4th to open the airwaves in order to provide internet to rural and low-income areas Approved the plan to give cellphones and laptops, connected to the internet, the right to white spaces Read further regulations @ www.fcc.gov/

  6. What about the artists? There is a possibility of interfering with broadcast channels too Many people in the music industry are against this free distribution in fear that it will hinder their wireless microphones.

  7. And the Sports? NFL offered FCC to use two stadiums to test out devices during games SuperBowl XLII: 10,000 wireless devices, operating on 2,000 radio frequencies Many fears of interference with broadcasts, interview, and mics on the player
