Overview • City’s Comprehensive Plan provides a shared vision & policy framework to achieve desired future community • Directs long term (20 – 50 year), mid-term (5-10 year) and immediate community development objectives • Integrates other adopted City master plans and community development guides

  3. Project Goal • Produce an updated, well-integrated Plan that guides community development with a 50-year planning horizon. • The Plan is used by the City in its growth and land use decisions, infrastructure planning, and municipal service delivery to its citizens • Community input and participation will ensure the Plan is not only comprehensive, but benefits from the visioning and best thinking of its diverse community members • The 2060 Plan will include a community vision, development goals, policies and action steps to achieve a desired future. While intended to be a municipal planning tool, the Plan will also engage and identify community partnerships to facilitate Greeley’s success in reaching its potential

Plan Framework • Presents the City’s Vision Statement • Frames community health, safety and development via thirteen focus areas: * Community Design * Culture * Economy * Education * Environment * Growth * Housing * Human Services * Land Use * Parks & Recreation * Public Safety * Redevelopmen t * Transportation

Plan Objectives • Each Focus Area represents a chapter of the Plan and includes: • A ‘snapshot’ of current conditions, trends & an evaluation of Community Indicators and other benchmarks related to that focus area • A set of policies, objectives and action steps to advance the community’s progress toward specific objectives and desired future • A cross reference to other chapters with shared polices and action steps

Update Process • Update Demographic and Community Trends from present (2000) Plan • Record Action Step Accomplishments called out in 2000 Plan • Establish a broad-based community advisory group to work with City staff to update the Comprehensive Plan (Citizens Planning Advisory Committee – CPAC)

  7. Present Trends info, Community Indicators & Action Step Accomplishments to CPAC • Affirm or modify vision statement and update goals for each Focus Area • Evaluate, affirm and/or modify policies, objectives and action steps, integrating other City master plans and guides

  8. Meeting Schedule - 2008 • CPAC Meetings: • June 4 • June 18 • July 9, July 30 • July 30 • September 10 • September 22nd - Community Open House • October 1 • October 22 • November 12 • December 3 • TBD – Community Open House • CPAC Committees representing the various topic areas are held in addition to the main group meetings, and are scheduled at the convenience of the CPAC committee members
