  1. Have You Heard About Belize? Belize is a fantastic country. Not only is it a fascinating place to visit, but also it is relatively easy and inexpensive to travel to.

  2. Where is Belize? • Belize lies on the Eastern or Caribbean coast of Central America, bordered on the North by Mexico, on the West and South by Guatemala and on the East by the Caribbean Sea. It is separated by sea from it's neighbour to the South-West, Honduras. • The inner coastal waters are shallow and are sheltered by a line of coral reefs, dotted with over 200 'cayes' (islands, pronounced "keys"), extending the entire length of the country. The cayes range in size from a few hundred feet to 25 miles long and 4 miles wide.

  3. What’s the Climate over there? • The climate is sub-tropical, with a brisk prevailing wind from the Caribbean Sea. The annual temperature averages about 80 degrees. • Water temperature averages between 79 and 83 degrees F.

  4. How Can I Identify a Belizean? • The society is multi-cultural, consisting of African-European Creoles, Spanish-Indian Mestizos, African-Indian Garinagus, Mayans, and a few Europeans, North Americans, and Asians. Outside of the "troublemakers" in Belize City, Belizeans are, for the most part, genuinely friendly people, who lead a laid-back Caribbean lifestyle.

  5. What Language Do They Speak? • English is the official language and the language of instruction in schools but almost everyone speaks an English dialect, or Creole patios, the vernacular of the country.

  6. What’s Their Currency? • Local currency is the Belize Dollar. One U.S. dollar is worth BZ$2. dollars
