CYBERCHASE : A Multimedia Math Experience • This award-winning math mystery cartoon series on PBS KIDS GO! delights 8-11 year olds with eye-popping action and humor. • A team of curious kids and a wacky cyber bird use math and brainpower to outwit, outsmart and outlast the bad guys in their quest to save Cyberspace.

A CARTOON...WITH A MISSION The show features Jackie, Matt, Inez, and their pal, Digit, who team up to use brain power to thwart Hacker, the dastardly villain, on his mad quest to take over Cyberspace. Cyberchase For Real stars Bianca & Harry Good Guys Bad Guys CYBERCHASE FOR REAL, the live-action segment at the end of each episode, explores math in real world.

MISSION The CYBERCHASE project strives to… • Help 8- to 11-year-olds develop and sustain enthusiasm for math; • Help kids develop skills in reasoning and problem solving; • Demonstrate the usefulness of mathematical thinking; • Help kids see math in the everyday world; • Change kids’ perceptions of math and foster an “I can do this!” attitude.

CYBERCHASE: MY BIG IDEA • What’s the BIG IDEA? • To present and model the problem-solving process behind inventing and used by mathematicians, scientists, and engineers; • To emphasize that inventing is as much a process as it is inspiration. Specifically to model how to: • Learn from mistakes and develop persistence and self confidence in overcoming difficulties (trial and error); • Make a design before building an invention so it works as planned (design for function); • Use a model to test the essential features of an invention to solve problems before building the real thing (3D modeling); • Refine and optimize an invention to make it the best that it can be (refine & optimize).
