What is Vireo? • Electronic thesis and dissertation submission and management system • Provided by the Texas Digital Library (TDL), a consortium of Texas universities • Offers an easy student submission interface and an expert management system for graduate school staff • Provides for local review and approval of manuscripts • Deposits ETDs in the TDL federated repository and in local institutional repositories • Based on existing ETD workflows at several Texas universities Introduction to Vireo

Use of Vireo at Texas institutions of higher learning • Currently deployed at Texas A&M University to manage ETD submission and approval process • In testing at the University of Texas (Spring 2009) with planned deployment in Fall 2009. • Once tested and deployed widely within the state of Texas, all source code, documentation, and training materials will be made publicly available under an open-source license.
