  2. What is PowerPoint?? A presentation graphics program that lets you create slide shows to be shown on a computer screen w/projector or as a Web page or Web broadcast. Includes: slides, handouts, outlines, speaker notes Contains: text, objects, charts, clipart, SmartArt graphic, pictures, sound, music, animated graphics, media clip Automatic file extension: .pptx Default title: Presentation 1

Presentation Views: Normal Enter content on slides or in an outline format Default view Slide pane, notes pane, slides tab, outline tab Slide Sorter Rearrange and organize slides All slides visible at once Notes Pages Edit speaker notes Reading View View presentation as a slide show that fits within the window
  4. Master Views Slide Master Change design and layout of master slides Handout Master Change design and layout of printed handouts Notes Master Open Notes Master view
  5. Placeholders Define arrangement & location of text & objects on slide 3 types: Title Subtitle Text (bulleted lists of content) Click on placeholder PowerPoint selects box & displays sizing handles & cursor for typing
  6. Adding Slides: Home tab, Slides Group, New Slide button Adds default next slide Add slide & select slide layout: Home tab, Slides Group, New Slide button down arrow Select desired new slide layout Inserted immediately after the active slide

  10. Transitions & Animations Transitions: Visual effects used when 1 slide moves off screen and another moves onto screen. Select slide/s Click Animations tab Click More button Select desired transition from gallery Click Transition speed Click Apply to All Animations: To apply movement to text or an object to control its display. Click in text or object to be animated Click Animations tab Animations group Click Animate list Select desired animation Custom Animation button = custom animations & Effect options

Print Options: File tab, Print (print dialog box) Print what: Slides, handouts, notes, outline Handouts: Select number of slides to print per page Color/grayscale: Color, shades of gray, pure black & white Frame slides: Adds frame border around slides Order: Select horizontal or vertical order of slides
