  3. Moreland BUG history • 1990: a BUG for each (old) council: • BrunsBUG • CoBUG • 2006: the two BUGs merge: • Moreland BUG • ~ 80 members • Aiming to incorporate this year Moreland BUG: audit ride presentation

BUG objectives • To promote greater and safer commuter and recreational cycling in the City of Moreland. • To liaise with local and state government authorities regarding on-road and off-road bicycle facilities in the City of Moreland. • To liaise with other bicycle groups for the promotion of cycling. • To provide affordable and accessible membership and activities for all members. • To organise recreational rides for Moreland Bicycle User Group Inc. members. • The promotion of cycling in general. How does the BUG operate? • Monthly meetings • An active mailing list • Convenor: Anna Strempel • Advocacy and other events on a “as needed” basis • Cyclovia, the Linear Park issue, audit rides, letter writing campaigns… • Good working relationships with Council and other cycling bodies Moreland BUG: audit ride presentation

  8. Audit Rides • Aims to assess the “bikeability” of Moreland and address the issues • Based on the TravelSmart Australia Bikeability Toolkit • Assesses cycling routes from the perspective of cyclists and other users across a range of criteria Moreland BUG: audit ride presentation
