Introduction • RIS Directive applies to 12+1 countries (RO, BG, HU, SK, PL, CZ, AT, DE, NL, BE, LU, FR and HR (as candidate country)) • Objective of activity: Summarize the Status of River Information Services by means of a questionnaire • Questionnaire sent to 13 countries, i.e. 12+1 and Serbia • 13 countries responded until 25.2. • Approx. 3.800 km of Class IV • Approx. 10.500 km of Class Va and higher • Approx. 12.000 vessels

Notices to Skippers (NtS) Provision of Fairway & Traffic, Water Related and Ice Messages 12/2010: 7 fully operational, 2 pilot, 4 in preparation 12/2012: 10 fully operational, 2 pilot, 1 in preparation Provision of full text message and code format Notices to Skippers - international data exchange 12/2010: 1 fully operational, 3 pilot, 8 in preparation 12/2012: 9 fully operational, 3 pilot, 1 in preparation Usage of 3 different versions of XSD

  4. Vessel Tracking & Tracing (1/2) • Shore-based infrastructure of Class Va and higher • 12/2010: 1.600 km fully operational, 950 km pilot • 12/2012: 4.300 km fully operational, 550 km pilot • Total length: 10.500 km • Shore-based infrastructure of Class IV • 12/2010: 50 km fully operational, 200 km pilot • 12/2012: 500 km fully operational, 200 km pilot • Total length: 3.800 km • Position information - international data exchange • 12/2010: 1 fully operational, 6 pilot, 3 in preparation • 12/2012: 5 fully operational, 4 pilot, 1 in preparation

Vessel Tracking & Tracing (2/2) • Services of shore-based infrastructure (over Inland AIS) vary between countries • AIS equipment program • 12/2010: 5.500 transponders provided • 12/2012: 11.500 transponders provided • Total approx. 12.000 vessels • AIS operation requirements (usage of a Inland AIS transponder - if on board): 4 in force, 4 planned • AIS carriage requirements (carriage and operation of Inland AIS transponder): 1 in force, 5 planned

Electronic Reporting Reporting of ERINOT message 12/2010: 2 fully operational, 3 pilot, 6 in preparation 12/2012: 5 fully operational, 6 pilot BERMAN and PAXLIST Message implemented in the Netherlands and Croatia ERINOT - international data exchange 12/2010: 3 fully operational, 1 pilot, 7 in preparation 12/2012: 3 fully operational, 8 pilot, 1 in preparation Reporting requirement: 2 in force, 2 planned

Electronic Navigational Charts (1/2) Electronic Navigational Charts of Class Va and higher 12/2010: 7.500 km fully operational, 400 km pilot 12/2012: 8.900 km fully operational, 400 km pilot Total length: 10.500 km Electronic Navigational Charts of Class IV 12/2010: 1.000 km fully operational 12/2012: 1.000 km fully operational Total length: 3.800 km

  8. Electronic Navigational Charts (2/2) • Actual depth data for critical stretches (e.g. free flowing sections) provided only in 3 countries • ENC available free of charge: 12/2011 • 10 free availability, 1 in preparation • Usage of 4 different versions of the standard

Hull Data Processing National Hull Databases 12/2010: 6 fully operational, 4 in preparation, 1 not planned 12/2012: 8 fully operational, 3 pilot Exchange of information with European Hull Database 12/2010: 3 pilot, 5 preparation, 3 not planned (partly depending on amendment of 2006/76/EC) 12/2012: 7 fully operational, 2 pilot, 2 not planned (partly depending on amendment of 2006/76/EC)

RIS Index Object of highest and high priority are not prepared in a harmonized way Use of RIS Index for VTT, ERI and NtS not yet in all countries Exchange with RIS Data Reference Management System 12/2010: 6 in preparation, 2 not planned 12/2012: 5 fully operational, 1 pilot, 2 in preparation

On board equipment According to information from expert groups, RIS equipment is estimated on board of vessels: 6.000 Inland ECDIS Viewers Electronic Reporting 98% of the container vessels are reporting electronically 30% of the tanker vessel 5% of the dry cargo. 5.450 Inland AIS transponders (see before) Total approx. 12.000 vessels
