  1. Warm Up Why is it important to be able to write clearly and accurately? In a brief paragraph, identify as many specific reasons as possible.

  2. Learning Goal I will be able to write three-sentence paragraphs consistently on various topics without making any errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, or structure by participating in the “Umbrella Writing” activity.

  3. How Does Umbrella Writing Work? • You will write for 15 minutes per class session after each daily Warm-Up. • You will keep all umbrella writing sheets within a single section of your Essentials Binder. • You will submit your completed sheets at the end of each week for a final grade worth 1 point per correct sentence.

The Rules • If there is a SINGLE error within your 3-sentence paragraph, you must rewrite the ENTIRE PARAGRAPH over on the backside of the sheet. • If you write a paragraph over, this is your FINAL CHANCE to complete the paragraph without error. • Remember, you receive 1 point for each sentence on this sheet for the final grade. • You are only allowed to write ONE paragraph/paragraph correction at a time. • You must see Mrs. Ramirez after each paragraph is complete.
