  1. 2-5 Postulates and Theorems

  2. Vocabulary • Postulate or Axiom: Statements that are accepted without proof • (The next word is near the bottom of your notes) • Theorem: Statements that are proven • NEVER call postulates or Theorems by NUMBERS!! (ex. Post. 7, Thm 2-1)

  3. Postulates Through any two points there is exactly line. 2 points determine a line ANY means it can be invisible!! Through any three noncollinear points there is exactly plane 1 1

  4. Postulate • A line contains at least points. • A plane contains at least non collinear points 2 3

  5. If two points are in a plane, then the entire line containing those points lies in that plane

  6. If two lines intersect, then their intersection is exactly one If two planes intersect, then their intersection is point line

  7. Notes • “Exactly” means “one and only one” • “At least” means “one or more”

  8. Now lets try some!! • Turn to Page 130 in your book • HW is a WS tonight! 
