Overview : Talking Points • Finally Fixing Michigan’s Roads • This is our BEST, LAST opportunity to fix MI’s roads and bridges • The Safety of our family on MI roads is becoming more of a constant concern • School buses driving over bridges • Police and ambulances racing to emergency situations Safe Roads Yes!

  5. Overview : Talking Points • Current Situation • 19 cents = 6% sales tax (20 cents) = 39 cents • What you pay at the pump • 80% of drivers believe that ALL of the taxes paid at the pump go to roads Safe Roads Yes!

Overview : Talking Points • Explain what was passed • Legislative/user fee road fix • Eliminate 19 cent flat gas tax, replace with 14.9% wholesale gas tax ($1.2 Billion for roads) • Effective Oct. 1st 2015, tie-barred to May 5th ballot vote • The equivalent to 42 cent gas tax, effectively a 3 cent increase at the pump Safe Roads Yes!
