  1. The Endowed Chair will provide leadership and guidance to teaching, research and extension activities; develop and conduct a world-class research program; conduct internationally recognized training and educational programs emphasizing the development of qualified growers; enhance ongoing programs through collaboration and cooperation with existing faculty; teach and advise both undergraduate and graduate students; serve as a focal point to attract internal and external funding. Endowment Goal: $ 1,000,000 Amount Raised: $ 453,000 TAMU Matching: $ 500,000 The Floriculture/Greenhouse Crops Chair Endowment was started by the efforts of Ellen and Jim Ellison in 1998 to strengthen the research and educational programs addressing the needs of the Texas floriculture and ornamental horticulture industries. Ellen and Jim along with the steering committee of PJ Ellison, Jimmy Klepac, Jack Weatherford, Cliff Powell, and Jim Prewitt worked tirelessly in making the endowment a reality. Kactus Korral, Inc.
