  1. Senior Journals

  2. Describe what it means to you to finally be a senior. • All entries must be in ink and a half of a page minimum. Each journal entry is worth five points. Journals are collected toward the end of the quarter. Utilize class time that is allotted for journal writing- if not, the journals will be collected spontaneously. Journal #1

  3. Speed Dating for Journal #2 • What do you think when you hear “Shakespeare”? • When you hear you are going to read Shakespeare, what is your first reaction? • What experiences- good/bad have you had with Shakespeare? • What do you know about Shakespeare? • Can you quote anything from Shakespeare? • What stories, movies, or television shows do you know that are based on Shakespeare’s plays?

  4. Based off of your conversations, what did people think or have to say about Shakespeare? Were they knowledgeable? Why do you think this is?   5. What issue concerns you? This issue could be personal, local, social, national or international. Why is it important to you? If you do not have a concern, why is that? What would cause you to be more concerned about an issue? Journal #3

  6. Note 5 tips/advice from the video “How to Write Your College Application Essay.” Why did you choose these tips? Do you think the essay will be difficult? Why or why not? Do you feel confident writing the essay? Why or why not? What kind of advice or activities would be more helpful in preparing for the essay? Journal #4

  7. Lifemaps: Make sure your name (first and last) is on the back. List your three key concepts on the back and what event they connect to. List your lowercase event on the back as well. • How was your weekend? What did you do? How far are you on your two college essays? What is your plan to have them finished by next Tuesday 9/9? Journal #5

  8. How have you made your college essays more personal? What experiences, stories, or anecdotes are you sharing that reveal a more personal aspect of yourself? Have you started working on both essays? What has been the hardest part in writing these essays? • Between the two essays, you should have about 1000 words. No essay should be less than 250 words or more than 750 words. Journal #6

  9. What makes it so difficult to read Shakespeare? What were your impressions of Hamlet after watching the movie preview? What do you think the story is about? Do you think Hamlet will be a likable character? Why or why not? Journal #7

  10. Answer these questions in your journal. 1.What is the mood like? (Hint: guards behavior in the very beginning l. 1-9) 2. . Who specifically is attacking Denmark and why? (l. 75-76, 83-111) 3. What is the ghost wearing? What do they believe the ghost’s appearance to mean? (l. 125-127, 134-142) Journal #8

  11. Take out the advice sheet from yesterday. Looking at the different pieces of advice, which one is the most important? Why? What is the best piece of advice you have given or received? Why? What are three pieces of advice everyone should live by? Why? Journal #9

  12. Please staple your AoW with the questions on top. • What is your favorite quote? Why? What does your favorite quote says about you? • If you do not have a favorite quote, look at the bumper stickers above the whiteboard and find a quote for the journal. Journal #10

  13. What is good parenting? What does it look like? What are examples of bad parenting? Do you think you can be a bad parent with good intentions? Why or why not? Journal #11

  14. Staple questions on top of article for AoW #5. • Will you be attending the college fair tonight? Why or why not? What are the benefits of attending a college on the west coast? What are the benefits of attending a college on the east coast? Do you think -you need to go to college to be a successful adult in the 21st century? Journal #12
