  2. One class scheduled each week for a fruit/vegetable tasting party • CN Manager prepares a nutrition lesson for the specific food item to be tasted • Students taste the food and are given an opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions • Lasts 10-15 minutes Tasting Parties

  3. Several different fruit/vegetable selections prepared in individual servings • Students chose one item • Information about nutrition, origin of food, cultivation provided on a backdrop • Visual props used to illustrate proper serving sizes of fruits/vegetables • Themed markets Farmer’s Market

  4. Problem: Printing materials and services not an allowable cost; school lacked sufficient funds to pay for printing Solution: Use of existing technology Soliciting help from community partners Placed materials in media center Meeting a Challenge

  5. Accounts from teachers and parents verify that students are asking for more fresh fruits and vegetables at snack time. Students who participated in the program are more knowledgeable about exotic fruits they see in grocery stores and are more likely to try new fruits/vegetables. Sweet Success!
