  1. The Setting Mise En Scene When looking in to the location of where we wanted to film, we knew some concepts in which we should try and look for to make our film more interesting. Most classic film noir movies use very dark and old looking buildings (however our photos do not show the building as being very dark but in the edit suite we can darken the clips or even convert them into black and white, so that it will have more of a film noir feel). From looking at pictures that were taken on the filming day (To the right) you can see that we have found a hotel which uses very similar decor to the images that I have found through my research (Above). We took a day out to research places we could potentially film, in which we looked around three different Brighton hotels the Thisle, the Grande and the Hilton. We decided that the Hilton would be the most appropriate setting for our film however when we arrived they decided they did not want us to film within the hotel. So we had to film in the Grande and the Thisle which ended up being good locations for our film.

  2. The Character We knew we would need to make our characters fit the whole film noir mise en scene. We researched into what was common for the main male character to wear (on the left). So we made sure that our character at least had a few of the conventions of the model character. We made sure that he had a suit and was smartly dressed; we also believed that because he was a fraud artist he would have to be smartly dressed and look very professional to fit with the wealth class. We also gave him a brief case that he always carried on him, which as you see in the teaser trailer holds all of his money and his cards, passports, etc. On the right you can see how we decided to dress our male character and we believe he fit the look well. We also knew we needed to make sure all the other characters were dressed in the correct way compared to a model version of a Femme Fatale character (on the left) so we did some research into what was common to see on this character, we found that that they also dressed very smartly and usually were very seductive (which you can see in the picture to the left). After finding out what cloths we needed for the Femme Fatale character we decided to dress her as you can see to the left, in which we thought gave the impression of classy yet seductive.
