  1. A Day in the Life of an 8th Grader

  2. YOUR LOCKER • You will be allowed at your locker 4 times a day: 1. Before homeroom 2. Before lunch 3. After lunch 4. At the end of the day • Before homeroom, get all the books and materials that you will need for Periods 1, 2, 3, and 4 (that includes your gym clothes!)

  3. HOMEROOM • Go straight from your locker to homeroom. • Turn in all papers that need to go to the office. • Stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. • Listen to the announcements.

  4. Cycles (Periods 1 & 2) • Do not go to your locker! • Go straight to your 1st period class. • Don’t forget the school hallway procedures on your way to class.

  5. 3RD Period • After 2nd Period, go back to your SSR/MORE classroom. • Don’t forget your SSR book! • You may be taken out of enrichment for MORE.

  6. Core Classes Don’t be late to class! If you are late and do not have a pass, you will lose 1 point. Update your agenda right away. Always have your SSR book with you in class.

  7. Core Classes (continued) • If you need to use the bathroom: • Don’t raise your hand. • Fill out a pass. • Fill out the sign-out sheet. • Bring the pass to your teacher to sign.

  8. Core Classes (continued) • At the end of class: • Don’t begin packing up until your teacher dismisses you. • Take a look around your area before you leave and make sure that it is clean and the desks are straight.

  9. Core Classes (continued) • Other things to know: • There is NO gum chewing in any science class. • Once every 2 weeks, your teachers will give you 10-15 minutes to organize your binder.

  10. Lunch • After fourth period, go to your locker, get your lunch, and head to the cafeteria. • Don’t wait for your friends at their lockers! • After lunch, stop at your locker and get all the books and materials that you’ll need for the rest of the day.

  11. 8th Grade Discipline Policy • If you receive 2 negative points in one class period, you will be given a detention. • Your teacher will give you a detention slip to take home AND you will have to call your parents before the end of the day. • Ways to lose a negative point: • Disrespect a teacher • Disrespect a student • Fail to follow teacher instructions • Inappropriate language/behavior • Lateness to class

  12. 8th Grade Discipline Policy • You must serve your detention within two days of receiving the slip. • You may serve your detention on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday morning. You must arrive at 7:30am. • You may also serve your detention on Tuesday or Friday from 2:40 to 3:15pm. • If you do not show up to detention, you will be assigned one more detention. • If you do not show up to the second detention, you will be referred to the office.

  13. 8th Grade Discipline Policy • After three detentions, you will meet with the eighth grade teachers. • The eighth grade teachers will meet or call your parents as well. • At this meeting, we will discuss your negative behaviors, how to improve, and possible more serious consequences for continued negative behavior.
