  4. Cycles (Periods 1 & 2) • Do not go to your locker! • Go straight to your 1st period class. • Don’t forget the school hallway procedures on your way to class.

  5. 3RD Period • After 2nd Period, go back to your homeroom for further instructions. • Don’t forget your silent reading book and agenda! • For the first few weeks, you will be reporting to your homeroom – not SOAR.

  6. Core Classes • New Attendance Policy. • Update your agenda right away. • Always have your silent reading book with you in class.

  7. Core Classes (continued) • At the end of class: • Don’t begin packing up until your teacher instructs you. • Take a look around your area before you leave and make sure that it is clean and the desks are straight. • 3. Stay in your seat until your teacher dismisses you.

  8. Core Classes (continued) • Other things to know: • There is NO gum chewing in science class or computer labs. • Excessive trips leaving the classroom will be noted and followed with appropriate consequences.

  9. Substitute Teacher Procedures • It is not easy to be a substitute teacher and therefore, we feel that the students should behave more appropriately when the teacher is not there. • If a student misbehaves for a substitute, that student will automatically receive a detention from the teacher.

  10. Lunch • After fifth period, go to your locker, get your lunch, and go down the EIGHTH GRADE STAIRWELL. • Don’t linger in the restrooms. • After lunch, stop at your locker and get all the books and materials that you’ll need for the rest of the day.

  11. 8th Grade Discipline Policy • In the case of a discipline issue, the following consequences may apply: 1. parent contact 2. teacher detention a. during lunch b. before/after school 3. team conference 4. administrative detention • When presented with a detention slip, a parent/guardian must sign the slip, and you must return it. • If you fail to return the slip, a phone call home will be made, and a second detention will be issued. • Examples of how to get a detention: • Disrespect a teacher • Disrespect a student • Fail to follow teacher instructions • Inappropriate language/behavior • Lateness to class
