Guidance Week 2011 • September 5-8, 2011 (Monday – Thursday) • Proposed Theme: “Promoting a Culture of Understanding in the School Setting” • Helping the university build a culture of understanding is the kind of impact the GCD would like to make through the activities lined up during the Guidance Week. • Guidance counselors essentially facilitate understanding • “Understanding” at different levels: self, student-teacher, student-families, community

  3. Guidance Week 2011 • Target stakeholders: • UST students • Faculty members and administrators • UST Guidance Counselors and counselors from other Dominican schools near UST. • GK Simbahayan Leaders (tentative)

  5. DAY 1 (September 5, 2011 – Monday) AM SESSION OPENING CEREMONIES • Invocation • National Anthem • Opening Remarks: Dr. Bance • Inspirational Message: Fr. Rolando dela Rosa, Rector, UST • Keynote Address: “Promoting a Culture of Understanding in the School Setting” • Prof. Belle Abaya • Plenary talk 1: “Teachers as Counselors” : Dr. Clarita Carillo • Optimizing academic success through understanding students • Plenary talk 2: “Building partnerships with the professional counselor” : Dr. Imelda Villar • Focused Group Discussion / Fellowship / Lunch: “Expectations of Administrators/Faculty to GCs” Participants: Faculty , Administrators, Counselors

DAY 4 (September 8, 2011 – Thursday) “Counselors’ Day” AM SESSION • Seminar for Counselors on Trends, Future Directions in Guidance and Counseling, Updates • Dr. Luzviminda Guzman (PRB GC Chair) • GCs of Domnet schools in Manila will be invited PM SESSION • Seminar on Counselor Wellness • (c/o Competency Committee) • Holy Mass (c/o Psycho-spiritual Committee)

Counselors’ tasking College-based/Building-based Concurrent Sessions • Decide: • College or building based session • Schedule: September 5 (PM only), September 6 , 7 • Topic (should be aligned with the theme) • Submit schedule, topic, and project proposal on or before June 30, 2011 (Thursday) • Send to stephanieannecruz@ymail.com • Suggestions: • tasking (building-based group), • then sessions will be conducted twice (or depending on the available schedule per college)
