Idea, process, calculation, marketing • Theideacamethruschool’sdevelopmentmanager, whosuggestedofparticipatingin a localworkshopthatmakesdifferentproductsofreuseablematerials. • We took thecoursewith 25 persons, eachmaking 2 tablematsoutofoldfleece and felt. Designideaswerechosenindividually. • Thecostofoneproductwithoutanyextraswascalculated €1.80, butsomeoutcomeswerein a smallersizethanexpected. • Before marketing theproductsweredecidedto sell at a priceof € 3.- (biggerproducts) and € 1.50 (smallertablemats). • Theproductsweresold at localmarkets, studentstradingunderteachers’ supervision. • Costsfortransportation and wrappingmaterialswerecalculatedand thensubtractedofftheprofit.

Theaimsoftheseprojects • Studentslearntoworkaloneaswellaswithpartners and customers. • Studentslearnhowitispossibletobeself-emplyed. • Studentslearnhowto present and successfully sell theirproduct. • Studentslearnhowtoplan, execute and analyseone’sactionstobecomemoreeffective and productivein order toearn a profit at reasonablecosts.

Results • Studentsweresurprisinglyinterestedincreatingthings and organizingevents. • Studentspracticedtheirskillsinpublicspeakingand givinginstructionsaswellasbeinghandy, persistant and quick. • Studentslearnedaboutmaking a budget, calculatingcosts and marketing productsin order tomakesufficientprofit.

Problems • Noteveryoneis keen on gettingthingsdonenorbeingcreative. • Materialswereof poor amount, thusthesizesoftablematsvaried. • Makingproductsoutoffleeceribbons took quitesometime, impatienceoccurred. • Planninganeventmightbeharderthanexpected – time, place and activities are notalwayseasytochoose(differentexpectations).

  12. Idea, process, calculation, marketing • Idea – wewantedtotake a triptooldschoolhouse. Wedidtwoactivitiestogether. Wecalledtwo people in there who did a workshop for children. • We took the course with 24persons, each making 2 picturesframes. Weusedoldicecreamsticks. • Oneframecost 1,9 euros. • Before marketing the products were decided to sell at a price of € 2 euros. • The products were sold at local markets, students trading under teachers’ supervision.

Problems and results. • Studentlearnhowtomakebusinessplan. • Studentslearned how to use the stuff again. • They learned that all activities should always be done carefully and accurately. It does not matter whether you've made the product goes on sale or not. • Childrenenjoyed the hike, liked that art lessonswas at anotherplace. • They liked when 7th gradestudents came and playedgameswiththem. • Themainproblem – me and childrendiddotwanttoworkwithmoney. Butwewere are happy, thatbusinesscanbecharity.

  15. Idea, process, calculation, marketing • Idea – Wastomakewoodenthingstothefare. Wewantedto show howgoodwe are makingwoodentoyswithourhands. • Thestudents made everythingbythemselves. We made „SOMA“ cubes and wooddices.Ourproductsdidn’tcostanythingbeacausewe made themoutoffurniturefactoryremains. • Becausewedidn’tpayforthematerials, thenwewantedto sell themquitecheaply. „SOMA“ cost 4 euros and dices (2) cost 2 euros. • The products were sold at local markets, students trading under teachers’ supervision.Wesold all the „SOMA“ cubes and mostofthedices.

Problems and results. • Studentslikedtodothingswiththeirhands. • Theywerevery keen tothinkaboutthematerials and thinkaboutthepriceswhichto sell and whichpriceisfair. • I, as a teacher, amhappybecausetheydidthethingsprofessionallyand theoutcomewasverygood. • Thestudentslikedalsotheselling part. Itwas real marketing. Theyweretherewithyoungerstudents side by side. Itteachesthemtolerance. • Wehad no problemsand theresultinmyopinionwasverygood.

Weusedoldstufflikecardboard, buttons, seeds, wool… • Thestudents made everythingbythemselves. • Onenotepadcosts 2,25 euros. • We sell themfor 3 euros • The products were sold at local markets, students trading under teachers’ supervision. • Wedin`tsold all thenotepads.
