  2. Background InformationAbout FATE • Fate is the theory that everything happens just the way it is supposed to happen and all the things and events are predetermined • Fate is when your life is all set up for you and you it follows a certain path. • People compare fate to a maze of life because it is all set up for you. • Fate can be considered luck.

  3. Focal Questions • What circumstances seem to be beyond the characters control? • Who controls the lives of the character http://www.sheilaomalley.com/archives/006462.html http://www.teachwithmovies.org/guides/romeo-and-juliet.html http://sp.ashsteachers.org/skonickia/MBW/Pictures/macbeth.jpga http://wordbandit.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/martin-luther-king-jr-pic.jpg

  4. FATE in Romeo and Juliet • “Is it e’en so?- Then I [defy] you, Stars! • “Unhappy fortune! By my brotherhood the letter was not nice, but full of charge of dear import, and danger. Friar John, go hence. Get me an iron crow, and bring it straight unto my cell.” • “This day’s black fate on more days doth depend; This but begins the woe, other must end.”

  5. Romeo and Juliet • Romeo based his life on the stars and went by the form they took • If the stars are lined up then it was a good thing, but if they were mixed up it was bad

  6. FATE in After the First Death • Kate's fate was to die and we know this from the beginning of the story • The deal was for her uncle to get murdered in the bus and she took his place that day • Every time it looked like she was going to avoid death something always happened to get her closer • She knew she had to die because she saw the killers with no mask on and she couldn’t live after.

  7. FATE in Macbeth • “What should be spoken here, where our fate, hid in an auger-hole, may rush, and seize us? Let’s away; Our tears are not yet brew’d” • “To make them kings, the seed of Banquo Kings! Rather than so, come fate into the list.” • “And I another So weary with disasters, tugg’d with fortune, that I would set my lie on any chances, to mend, it or be rid on’t”

  8. Macbeth Facts • From the start of the story you could already predict what is Macbeths fate. • Macbeth was power hungry and would do anything to get his high status. • After he got all that power and killed those people, he ended up dying even though the sisters of fate warned him a few times

  9. FATE in “Patterns” • “From the moment of my birth to the instant of my death, there are pattern I must follow just as I breath each breath.” • My life is made of patterns that can scarcely be controlled. • “The patters still remains on the wall where darkness fell, And it’s fitting that it should for in darkness I must dwell” • This poem is comparing life to a maze

  10. Life can be easy or hard http://www.mazes.org.uk/easy-maze-01.htm http://www.mazes.org.uk/impossible-maze-01.htm

  11. FATE in Final Destination 2 • The main character stops in the middle of the high way and blanks out • She has a vision about a huge pile up and everybody dying..she tells her friends but they don’t believe her • A few seconds later it happens but she saves the people that were suppose to die • The survivors end up dying mysteriously and its her job to save them

  12. FATE in “Remember” • “I may not get their with you, but I want you to know that we as a people will get to the promise lands.” • “But he talked about death more that night than we’d heard him talk about in a long while” • Everybody noticed something different about his speech that day • Nobody could tell what he meant with that days speech though • The next day he got murdered .
