Hannover Halle/West Dortmund BK Halle / Westfalen • Halle / Westfalen is a small town in NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia), the most densely populated Federal State of Germanyand belongs to the district of Gütersloh. • The town is quite close to Bielefeld (20 km) and almost in the middle between Dortmund (110 km) and Hanover (125 km) • The current population of Halle is approximately about 23,000 inhabitants.

  2. Some facts and data about the Berufskolleg Halle Westfalen des Kreises Gütersloh

  3. As a vocational training school, Berufskolleg Halle is a so called combined school, i.e. courses of study from different occupational fields are taught in this school. The school has existed in its present type for 75 years, and has thus a corresponding tradition, a lot of experience and intense contacts to practical occupational experience. Students aged 16 to 22 are taught in different courses of study. At the moment the school has about 1,400 students and 85 teachers The following survey shows the courses of study:

Although Halle is a small town, you find some world-wide operating and well known companies here: • Gerry Weber International AG (Fashion production) • August Storck KG (Production of confectionery) • Hörmann International KG (Production of gates, doors, frames) Many of our students serve an apprenticeship or internship in one of these companies.

  5. In 1991 the fashion producer Gerhard Weber brought an ATP Tennis Tournament to Halle. Since then the Gerry Weber Open has been the only ATP Tournament in Germany played on grass. • Besides international sport events like tennis, boxing, handball or volleyball, there are many concerts und cultural events in the Gerry Weber Stadium with its more than 12,000 seats.
