Reassessing Performance • Introduction • Re-tested every two weeks using an interim test to monitor • At end of 6 weeks repeated initial tests and compared for improvement • Why is it important to re-test • Explain how you reassessed performance at end of 6 week training programme • What you discovered from data gathered • Specific data – discuss improvements • General data – discuss improvements • How your overall football performance improved on completion of your six week training programme • What can you now do as a result of improved fitness • How does it impact on skill level • How does it impact on mental fitness • How does it impact on team • A future development need and how you would plan to develop it.

Improvements in Performance • Instructions: • Get into a group of four • Number yourselves 1-4 • Task: • Each of you will create a four square graffiti poster on improvements in performance in your jotter • You will each have to add specific information to your square of the graffiti poster • Number 1 - What can you now do as a result of improved fitness • Number 2 - How does it impact on skill level • Number 3 - How does it impact on mental fitness • Number 4 - How does it impact on team

  15. Revision Homework Successful performance in football requires a variety of fitness aspects. With reference to Physical, Mental, and Skill Related fitness explain the aspects of fitness you require to fulfil your role. During the preparation phase it’s important to develop your physical fitness ahead of the competition phase. Explain in detail how you identified a weakness in your performance. Explain how you used the Principles of Training to create an improvement programme to develop your identified weakness. Describe a training session you completed to improve your performance. Explain how you monitored your training programme to ensure your improvements didn’t plateau.
