2. CONEJO VALLEY BOTANIC GARDEN One of the hidden gems of the area, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, is 33 acres of natural terrain encircled by the city of Thousand Oaks. From the sweeping vistas at the peak of the garden through 15 breathtaking, hillside specialty gardens, and onto the hiking trail along the riparian stream, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is a destination not to be missed. BANK OF AMERICA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER Originally known as the Civic Arts Plaza, the Bank of America Performing Arts Center is the realization of a 20-year dream by Thousand Oaks residents to provide a facility to house quality cultural activities. To date, more than three million people have visited the Center since its successful October 1994 grand opening. Designed by nationally renowned architect Antoine Predock, the three-acre city complex juxtaposes serene meadowland and park- like vistas with a bustling entertainment center. STAGECOACH INN MUSEUM The Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park, originally known as the Grand Union Hotel, was used as a resting area for people who traveled from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. It is a California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum includes a replica of Timber School (originally built in 1889), the carriage house and a blacksmith shop, a nature trail, and the ‘Tri-Village’, a small group of three houses: the pioneer house, the adobe and the Chumash village.
